For getting in the spirit of things for the wild west games and creating that
wild west atmosphere around the table...

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~poindexterfamily/OldWestSlang.html

"That four-flusher, shave tail from the old States thought he'self real
Curly wolf when he bilked the big bug over at the Saloon by shoving
the queer. Now he's had his plow cleaned and he's a goner in the bone
orchard, " " And him only between the hay and the grass too !"

" Well if that dont take the rug off the bush!" " Cigar ? "

"Why thank you, but I'll quirley if'n ya twig!" " Cup o' arbuckle's?"

etc etc etc !!

Most of the old west slang around our gaming table sounds more like "DEADWOOD".

I Said

The inexperienced con artist really thought he was a tuff guy when he tricked the
Owner of the tavern into excepting counterfeit moneys. Now he has been severely beaten
And lies dead in the local cemetery. And him no more than a boy.

I say ! Doesn’t that just beat all. Cigar ?

Many thanks but no. I roll my own if you don’t mind ! Cup of coffee?

Or

The biscuit babbling brook thought he was the bees knees when he tried it
On with the lemon squeezer at the bazaar with some Sexton Harry Nash. Now he’s been
Son and daughter’d and is lying brown bread in the tuppence a pound. And him only a
Tin lid.

Would you Adam and Eve it? Lar de dar?

No tar I’ll have a harry wragg. Cup of toffee.?

Or something like that anyways.

I use a lot of those words, as I reckon' most anyone from my parts still would. And I can remember a lot of the more ambiguous phrases being used by my grandparents and great-grandparents (all from rural Nebraska, which never did quite modernize itself )

My great-grandmother told me not to "kick up a row" when I was a little tempermental child, and my great-grandfather sometimes didn't give a "continental goddamn 'bout notin'!"

Maybe some of us Yankee folk should tape record our accents for you Brits so you can get an idea of how we sound ... or you could just watch a lot of Larry the Cable Guy (My speech isn't half as bad as his)

Time for me to skedaddle! (Yep- I actually do use that one on occasion )

Watch "Tombstone" with Val Kilmer and Kurt Russell. You will get stuff like, "Skin that smoke wagon and see what happens."

That was finest Cockenese rythming slang as translated from the english
to slang dictionary ( bet no londoner would regognise half the entries !)

i used a translation dictionary to speak a bit of russian to a new member
here once....aint seen him since? Instead of saying hello, welcome and
lets see pics of your painting. Reckon I asked him if his daughter was
for sale or if his wife had won any pig show trophies recently !!!

Most cockneys speak Urdu nowadays Mousey.

Never heard any of those rhymes, and my great-grandaddy was a one armed costermonger from Whitechapple!
