Tim, or does anyone else for that matter, know if a figure manufacturer has plans for a new line of Royal Navy officers and crew?
Preferably in the Artizan/Foundry version of 28mm.

Yes Black Cat Bases have period looking figures, here is there link:

Jo at Black Cat has been great, and they have been kicking out figures pretty quickly. I have a few that they sent me, and they are 28mm to the eyes. They will fit in with some Foundry (Swashbucklers) and with the Black Scorpions. I happen to have foundry & Old Glory and they look nice next to them. but I'm not that worried over scale differences.

Try these,
Old Glory
www.oldgloryminiatures.com
Flagship Games:
www.flagshipgames.com
Black bases are working on a few ships not out yet:
http://www.blackcatbases.com/default.asp?
Or you can scratch build a ship from plans at Foundry:
http://www.wargamesfoundry.com/main.asp
In the file section is an article by Gary Chaulk.
hope this helps...

Wow, Tim the answer man!!!
They look a bit chunky and the "boy" midshipman is listed as 28mm to the eye so the others must be 31mm+, but I might give them a try. Not fond of the crew poses, but I think some of the better attired Foundry pirates would work for RN crew and I know they'll fit with what I've got.
Crew question...Is the Royal Navy type crew generic enough to be used for a French Navy crew and/or French Marines shore party?

Guys,
The first reports of non playtesters for the upcomming Legends of the High Seas are starting to show up. Some of the painters of figures for the book got together a few weeks ago and played.
You can see a small report with cool pictures here:
http://www.napnuts.com/pirate_treasure.htm
The guy who wrote this was one of the painters, Dominic.
Just FYI...

RJ,
Yeah alot of folks from this forum & Lead Adventure Forum are on there. I wanted to get as many talented peoples stuff in the book as I could. If nothing else, at least the book will look pretty, even if folks hate the rules. (I'm hoping they don't hate them though!)

Teutonic Texan - here are my Royal Navy guys and Marines. They are mainly Foundry, though one of the officers is from Front Rank:

Very nice Dominic!!! The whites are excellent!
Though they are Napoleonic naval era, they are certainly what I imagined royal navy sailors to be.
I think I will either use those or some of the better dressed normal piratey lads for the earlier 18th C. I found a site with some descriptions on "correct" colors for RN slops of the period up to about 1750. According to the site below, they didn't have a uniform per se, but what the sailors had easy access to and could be obtained on credit.
http://www.gentlemenoffortune.com/sailorskit.htm
I haven't been able to find anything on the French sailors of the period yet.

Thanks guys!
Hi Texan
For what it's worth, the RN guys in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies were all dressed in Napoleonic garb. See the opening scene in the first movie!
Cheers!

Great work Dom. Does lon at Brigade Games know that you are painting for the book?. If not I will try and get him to send you some samples of the BG pirates.

Paul,
I contacted Lon sometime ago but never heard back from him. I wanted to get some of his Pirates in the book. Not sure what happened, I wanted to get his stuff to people like Dom to paint them.
